Baikunthapur Tarun Sangha (BTS) has been working in the riverine Coastal areas of Sunderban under Bio-sphere Reserve and the World Heritage Site as declared by UNESCO.

It has been serving the Core neighbouring areas of Tiger Reserve Forest and providing development support services to the poor & the marginalized; vulnerable & the needy, underprivileged  forest & fishermen community people, especially the malnourished Women Children and the aged -disabled in their acute need.

BTS is registered under Society Registration Act, 1961 Govt. of West Bengal; Foreign Contribution Regulation Act,1976/2010; U/S 12A & 80G(Exemption) of Income Tax Act,1961 and DARPAN Portal of NITI Aayog ID: WB/2009/0002897), Govt of India. BTS is registered with Guide Star India (GSN: 4809) & Certified Non-Govt. Organisation with Transparency Key & Global (BRIDGE)Unique Id:0695646867 also validated by CAF(Charities Aid Foundation)-India.


Child Protection and Quality Education

The Project
BTS-PathBhavan, the Model School, is the first venture into development support to provide basic & quality education since 1983 for the poor working children of Kultali. It was later upgraded to the primary level covering Class LKG to Class-IV from a  Feeding Centre for 25 helpless 240 rural children under severe malnutrition.
BTS presently runs 2 Pre-School Centres(PSCs) or Creches under Rajib Gandhi National Creche Programme  covering 50 children of rural working mothers from  2 neighbouring villages.
Again, since 2014-15 and till date BTS has been working with Govt. ICDS Centres to ensure providing quality education & check drop-outs.Successfully covering 18 ICDS (12 in Kultali & 6 in Patharpratima) including 750+ children under 2 local Moipith-Baikunthapur Gram Panchayet,Kultali Block  & Achintanagar GP, Patharpratima Block in the district of South 24 Parganas, West Bengal.
Create basic  opportunities to develop school going habits & give beasic quality education, nutrition & therapeutic care to the malnourished children of rural working mothers, or vulnerable children from fishermen, marginal farmers & migrant-labours under BPL situation.
Reference Group
In the School 240 students, 750+ in Project Samannay with ICDS & 50 (3-6 agr group) in 2 PSCs.totally 1000 children from the very poorest of the poor families absolutely engaged in farming & fishing; Collecting Non-Timber Forest Produces(NTFPs) and catching prawn-seeds in the rivers and also migrated labourers in the metropolitan cities like Kolkata or Chennai.
Learning Methodology
Joyful Learning Process (JLP) promoting various Group-based participatory Learning through Yoga,Herbal, Songs & Drama etc. by the trained teachers, the students are given nutritional and healthcare support. The above Group activities under JLP is a remedy of rural monotony and make children involve in following classroom as well as open-air learning in a healthy joyous atmosphere.
BTS Education Philosophy is very simple…giving all children the opportunity to learn and grow in a creative, fun and free-environment. It’s a place of learning where children can explore their own creativity and experiment with different approaches to learning the importance of free play & Music, Drama & Dance therapies.
Present Need of the School
BTS also presently in need of some additional classrooms for opening sections and other rooms like Girls’ Common Room alongwith separate Toilet Blocks for both Boys & Girls. BTS needs of Rs.35 lacs to have the ceiling/roofs in the western side of BTS-PathBhavan alongwith its expansion of classrooms for coverage of more children from the neighbouring villages.
